Connecticut police officers gave a touching salute to a loyal K-9 named Hunter as he was brought to the vet’s office.
Tests found that Hunter, a German shepherd from the Middletown Police Department, had a serious type of liver cancer. The vets advised that it would be kindest to put him to rest.

The department shared emotional photos on Facebook where D’Aresta can be seen holding Hunter close.
The department mentioned that making this kind of decision is one of the hardest parts of being a K-9 handler. They also shared that it’s a very tough time for D’Aresta and his loved ones.
Many people responded to the photos with heartfelt messages.
To honor Hunter further, the department updated their Facebook profile picture with an image of him.
