Bertha, a three-month-old stray puppy, began her life on a grimy street, unwanted and overlooked. That was until kind-hearted volunteers discovered her and brought her to a shelter.
Bertha had an infectious love for humans. Every time someone approached, her entire body would wag with excitement, her eyes sparkling with hope.
But despite being in a safer environment, her heart yearned for a loving family.
In the shelter, Bertha’s days oscillated between hope and heartbreak. She would put on her best display, trying to catch the eye of potential adopters.
But time and again, they would walk past her, choosing other dogs, leaving her feeling overlooked and desolate.
Then, a glimmer of hope: a family, consisting of a mother, father, and their young daughter Yumi, visited the shelter.
As Yumi paused in front of Bertha’s kennel, Bertha’s tail wagged furiously, her eyes filled with hope.

The connection was palpable. Yumi, looking up at her parents, pleaded, “Mom, Dad, can we take her home? Please!” Bertha’s hopeful eyes met theirs, silently echoing Yumi’s plea.
After a brief discussion with the shelter staff and some paperwork, the moment Bertha had been waiting for finally arrived: she was going home.

Life with her new family was everything Bertha had dreamt of. Yumi and Bertha became inseparable companions, sharing adventures, playtimes, and quiet moments.
From long walks in the park to cozy snuggles on the couch, every day was a testament to the love and bond they shared. Bertha was no longer just a number in a shelter; she was a beloved family member, cherished and adored.
