Have you ever wondered what drives the loyalty of dogs toward their hooman companions? If yes, you are not alone, as this question, one of the oldest in our relationship with dogs, often points to our historical domestication of the species. Yet, the truth isn’t that black and white.
Dogs, by nature, are social creatures that exist in packs. It’s this mentality that fosters this undying loyalty not just to their kind, but also to their hooman friends.
Sadly, these precious creatures don’t always receive the same love and loyalty that they give and deserve to get. Very often, we witness the heart-wrenching sight of faithful dogs forsaken by their beloved humans.

One such incident happened on a dreary, rainy day in South Carolina. Angela Simmons, a local animal rescuer, got a call about an abandoned dog in a desolate trailer park. The neighbors, having seen the helpless canine waiting optimistically on a sofa for someone to arrive, finally decided to alert Simmons.
Simmons found the dog to be very friendly and not showing any signs of fear. The effects of his time waiting outside were being visible in the irritation of his paws and snout.
Simmons took the dog to Auction For A Kaws, a local animal shelter. Here, the dog, now named Murphy, found a temporary home. A shelter worker told The Dodo that: Once he entered foster care, he proved to be the biggest love bug.

With time passing on, Murphy’s energy levels rose high, and he started doing the activities he loved again: strolls in the park, car rides, rolling on his bed, and sunbathing.
His affable personality quickly made him a favorite among the shelter staff and visitors. A shelter worker shared, “Murphy has so much love for other dogs too, shows impressive intelligence, and has great manners. He’s always eager to learn.”

After making sure that Murphy recovered fully and was engaged in various fun activities to make him forget about the bad moments in his life, the shelter put Murphy up for adoption. They decided to share a video of Murphy’s journey, along with his story, on their Instagram page to help him find a new family.
In the description of the video, they wrote: We are so thrilled to offer Murphy for adoption! Murphy is a 45 pound pit mix located in Greenville South Carolina. He is approximately 3 1/2 years old, housetrained, very loving, walks great on a leash, and loves all people.
We are pretty sure that Murphy has found a loving family by now, but anyone who wants to know more about him, you may contact the shelter organization for more information.
