In Maui, Hawaii, Bruce and Sue have committed themselves to animal welfare, showcasing their dedication through numerous challenging rescues. However, some encounters remain unforgettable due to their shock factor.
While carrying out their regular feeding routine, they stumbled on a distressing sight that required immediate attention.
An unfortunate creature had lodged its head into a concrete wall opening, striving continuously to free itself. The scene left Bruce and Sue in urgent action mode, realizing the importance of swift intervention to alleviate its plight.
Recognizing and Approaching the Creature
The pair quickly reached out to the Maui Humane Society. Shortly after, Officer Kaitlyn Mason from the Department of Humane Enforcement joined them at the location.
Upon inspection, they discovered it was a feral cat entangled in a perilous struggle for freedom. Despite her efforts, the narrow gap offered no escape.
The team realized that pulling might harm her neck severely.
Kaitlyn and the rescuers began to carefully chip away at the concrete encasing the cat.
“Due to the cramped space within the wall and not wanting to pull too hard on her neck, Officer Mason and Bruce carefully started removing the concrete. A careful approach set her free,” the Maui Humane Society noted on Facebook.
As more of the cat’s visage became evident, Bruce assisted Kaitlyn in extricating the last bits of concrete around her. The cat finally experienced freedom.
They decided to name the cat Kaity, honoring her savior that day.
Kaity’s Health and Well-being
For Kaity’s safety, Kaitlyn took her to a veterinarian for a thorough examination while Bruce and Sue waited anxiously for updates.
Their relief was palpable when they learned the next day that Kaity was in excellent health. Following her spay surgery, she was returned to the colony that resides on the couple’s grounds.
“Luckily, her health was perfect, and after being spayed, she was back at Bruce and Sue’s place the next day,” shared the Maui Humane Society.
The warm welcome from Bruce and Sue included a special treat to honor Kaity’s rescue. She was showered with affection, likely for the first time in a while.
Now that the danger is over, Kaity can once more freely explore her surroundings, enjoying life with her feline friends. The ordeal has ended, and she has found safety and care among those who rescued her.
