Dogs are not just pets; they are family. They bring joy, companionship, and an immense amount of love into our homes. It’s heart-wrenching to think that some are left behind, their loyalty met with betrayal. This is the story of La-Z-Boy Gatson, a puppy whose faith in his owner never wavered, even when left alone.

A Lonely Vigil on Gatson Road
In the summer of 2019, a young puppy was discovered alone, his only company an old chair and a discarded TV, on the lonely stretches of Gatson Road in Mississippi. Sharon Norton, an Animal Control Officer, found him there, his small frame barely visible in the large recliner. Despite his obvious hunger and frailty, his eyes sparkled with a hopeful glint, looking out for the owner who left him behind.

A Beacon of Comfort and Trust
Norton approached the puppy, offering food and gentle words. It didn’t take long for the little one to understand he was safe. With every wag of his tail, he expressed his gratitude and relief. Named after the chair and road that marked his rescue, La-Z-Boy began his journey to recovery at Brookhaven City Shelter, followed by the loving care of Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.
