In the city of Lexington, Kentucky, animal control officials were inundated with reports about a Husky that appeared to be lodged in a storm drain.
The situation was perplexing. Figuring out how such a large dog could fit into such a confined area puzzled everyone.
The volume of calls prompted swift action by the officers. Upon arrival, they were met with the astonishing sight of a furry snout peeping out through a narrow gap in the concrete.
Rescue Brings Smiles
“We have no idea how [he] ended up there,” expressed a spokesperson from Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control as they shared with The Dodo. “Our guess is he entered through the pipes and couldn’t find his way back.”
While it was one of their most bizarre calls, there was no time to chuckle. Time was of the essence, particularly because Sebastian’s health status was unclear.
Upon inspection, assurance washed over them. Sebastian was perfectly healthy and seemed surprisingly upbeat despite his confined position.
“[Sebastian] was seemingly on a journey to find the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” joked Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control on Facebook during his rescue. “Instead, he met a couple of our officers!”
The officers quickly pried open a cover, allowing Sebastian to emerge safely. Within moments, the spirited Husky emerged, grinning widely, seemingly unfazed by his escapade.
“He was thrilled with his rescue and thoroughly enjoyed his brief stay,” remarked the spokesperson for The Dodo. “We’re sure he’d be eager to repeat the experience.”
Reunited With Family
Post-rescue, Animal Care & Control promptly contacted Sebastian’s family. His parents felt immense relief upon knowing he was safe.
Sebastian, on the other hand, was too excited by the new friends and attention to worry much about his adventurous predicament.
“The lively Sebastian is now resting safely with us, eagerly awaiting his family’s arrival!” stated Animal Care & Control on Facebook.
Shortly thereafter, Sebastian was joyfully reunited with his dad. A heartfelt photo captured their emotional reunion, with Dad close to tears and Sebastian smiling widely.
Despite the trouble he caused, it was hard to be upset with the cheeky dog. His broad smile was enough to melt anyone’s heart. “We cherish happy outcomes!” concluded Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control on their post.
