On what seemed like a typical day at the Greenville Humane Society, a staff member stumbled upon a sight that would tug at the heartstrings of animal lovers everywhere.

Remy’s health was indeed precarious. She was diagnosed with a grade-six heart murmur, a testament to her silent struggle with a rare and serious condition.
Her coat, lackluster and patchy, spoke volumes of the malnutrition she had endured. Yet, in the face of these adversities, the Greenville Humane Society refused to give up on her.

The shelter’s response was swift and full of resolve. They launched the Hope Fund, a beacon for Remy and other dogs like her, who arrive at the shelter’s doorstep in desperate need of care.
Through this initiative, Remy received an echocardiogram, which revealed B1 degenerative valve disease. While serious, the condition spared her from the ordeal of surgery, requiring instead a regimen of lifelong medication.
