In the vast stretches of Fort Lupton, Colorado, the sight of stray dogs is unfortunately all too common. Soul Dog Rescue, a dedicated organization, tirelessly works to ensure these strays find a safe haven. While many of their rescue missions are straightforward, some present unique challenges that test the team’s resolve and resourcefulness.

One such challenge began with an urgent call from Shimayne, a former volunteer of the rescue. She recounted a curious observation: a heavily pregnant dog wandering a desolate patch of land in Chinle, Colorado. Days later, the dog, although no longer bearing the signs of pregnancy, was seen without her litter. The only consistent behavior was her repeated visits to a specific pile of concrete rubble, hinting at the possible location of her newborns.
Despite their best efforts, Shimayne and a helpful neighbor struggled to find any trace of the puppies. Just as they were about to give up, the faint, desperate cries of puppies reached their ears, guiding them to the heart of the rubble.

Their relief at locating the puppies was short-lived. The site was on the verge of being cleared by bulldozers, putting the fragile lives of the puppies in immediate danger. With a mix of determination and urgency, the duo managed to halt the impending bulldozer operation, ensuring they had the time to delicately extract the puppies from their concrete cocoon.

Once safely out, another kind-hearted individual stepped in, offering to foster the puppies until Soul Dog Rescue could arrange for their care. The mother, lovingly named Suri by the rescue team, was quickly adopted into a forever home, and two of her puppies soon followed suit. The remaining five, filled with hope and playfulness, eagerly await families to call their own.
