Her journey led her to the haven of a family home in a Southern California neighborhood, where she sought refuge in their yard.

Worried about the dog’s safety, the homeowner reached out to Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy, seeking assistance for the distressed pup.
Upon receiving the call, Hall promptly drove to the family’s address. As she arrived and encountered the abandoned dog, the seasoned rescuer discerned the palpable fear and sadness in her eyes.
Hall conversed with the caller’s neighbors and discovered that they had attempted to capture the dog.

Due to the pup’s deep-seated hurt and sense of betrayal, she remained wary of humans, rejecting any attempts to approach her.
“Everyone tried so hard, but she was so scared. When I pulled up… I could literally feel her fear and sadness,” Hall shared on Facebook.
With an impending storm adding urgency, Hall recognized the need for swift action. Setting a humane trap, she strategically placed treats inside a crate and patiently awaited the hesitant canine.
Named Iris later on, the pup, though growing to trust her rescuer, remained too shy and hesitant to enter the trap initially.
Recognizing the need to give the timid canine some space, Hall decided to drive away from the crate. To her surprise and heartfelt joy, Iris’s reaction at that moment was both unexpected and endearing.
“She ran after my van. She knew I was safe, and she knew I was there to save her,” shared the rescuer.
Swiftly exiting her car, Hall employed baby gates to gently corral Iris into the crate, a strategy that proved to be highly effective.
The Beloved Pup Finds Safety at Last

As the rescuer witnessed the pup successfully entering the trap, a wave of happiness swept over her and the relieved neighbors.
Approaching Iris, the rescuer offered soothing reassurances, conveying that everything was now alright. Unaware of the impending positive shift in her life, Iris gazed at her rescuer with eyes reflecting both beauty and lingering sadness.
Hall tenderly cradled Iris in her arms, placing her in the front seat of the van. During the drive to the hospital, Hall periodically checked on her. Overwhelmed with emotion, the rescuer teetered on the brink of tears upon seeing how peacefully Iris slept.

The pup, in a deep slumber, rested her head on the seat’s armrest, clasping her paws together in a manner reminiscent of prayer.
“It felt like she was really praying. She went through so much, and it really felt like she was so grateful,” Hall shared with The Dodo.
Upon reaching Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California, Iris received a warm welcome from the staff, her sweet demeanor captivating their hearts instantly. A thorough medical checkup confirmed Iris’s excellent health.
Placed in a wonderful foster home by her rescuer, Iris now basks in the love and care she deserves. It brings joy to see her relishing the warmth and comfort of a home, and we hope that this lovely girl will soon find her forever family. She undeniably deserves to be cherished and showered with love and affection.
