With the shadow of euthanization looming, it seemed Kaya’s days were numbered due to the lack of interest from potential adopters.

However, destiny had a different plan in store. Kaya’s soulful eyes and untapped potential caught the attention of Jesse and his wife, two kind-hearted souls who decided to offer her a temporary home.

Jesse reminisced about the moment, stating, “She was at the shelter, slated to be euthanized. Nobody wanted her.”

The couple observed a rapid weight gain in Kaya, especially around her belly. Jesse, attributing this to his feeding routine, mentioned, “She started putting on weight in her belly area extremely fast, so I thought I was overfeeding her.”

When the day arrived for Kaya to deliver, the couple braced themselves for perhaps seven or eight puppies, but Kaya was on a roll!

Managing an unexpectedly large litter posed challenges, but the couple rose to the occasion. They decided to care for the entire brood until each was ready for adoption at nine weeks.
During this period, Kaya, with her innate maternal instincts, taught her young ones vital life skills.
