Some individuals are destined to be in the right spot at the perfect moment for a purpose, and Eddy would nod his head in agreement if he could speak!
His affectionate eyes and wagging tail tell the story, as that’s all he can do to share his journey! This poor canine was trying hard to keep above water in a drainage channel, locally referred to as a bayou in Houston, Texas.
Gripping onto some bushes and trembling with cold, he waited until a compassionate passerby finally noticed him.
Near Catastrophe
Eddy faced incredible adversity. No one is sure how this lost Shih Tzu ended up in the bayou, but he found himself without an exit strategy.
Finding what comfort he could in the surrounding foliage amidst fast-moving waters, Eddy hoped for an end to his ordeal. The frigid waters left him shaking uncontrollably. He was isolated and soaked, on the brink of disaster.
Luckily, a brave woman noticed him and sprang into action without hesitation.
“A heavy rain was imminent, and the ditch quickly became flooded with swift-moving water. Velvin Alvarado flew into action and pulled the frightened pup from the bayou. He was visibly distressed and shaken,” Erin, first to foster Eddy, expressed on Facebook.
She courageously advanced into the water, and within moments, Eddy was rescued. Safely ashore, Velvin sought rescue efforts online.
Fortuitously, this petrified dog found sanctuary with the CAMO Rescue team in Houston, Texas. Initially, Erin’s family gave him shelter before another guardian took over.
Initially, Eddy was very cautious around his new surroundings because of past fears. He was defensive and withdrew from humans until he gradually felt protected.
Gradually, he opened up, feeling more secure in his surroundings.
Eddy adjusted to his new home, welcoming the life he’d been yearning for.
Aspiring For A New Beginning
Eddy would be a delightful companion – all he desires is a family who will cherish him and give him the affection he deserves.
A household of grown-ups would suit him, ensuring he feels unthreatened. Furthermore, Eddy enjoys social outings, making him a great choice for those who love outdoor adventures.
“He gets along well with older children and enjoys their company. He is trained to stay in a crate and goes outside with enthusiasm,” the CAMO rescue stated.
Eddy’s preferred meal includes scrambled eggs and a vegetable mix alongside kibble. After dining, he delights in the company of other dogs and enjoys snuggling with his loved ones, making him a real treasure.
“He isn’t a fan of plain kibble, but mix it with some scrambled eggs or a meat/rice/veggie blend and he eats with enthusiasm. He arrived very underweight. He’s friendly with other dogs. Awaiting his forever home eagerly. He loves being near and cherished,” the Texas rescue commented.
Currently, he is being treated for various conditions, including a urinary tract infection, bacterial infection, and worms. After he’s neutered, Eddy will be fully prepared to find his perfect family.
