Bewildered Canine Abandoned at the Fence

On a cold winter dawn, team members at the Louisiana SPCA found a nervous canine tied near their gates as they began their day. Witnessing a pet abandoned in this state was heartbreaking, though not unprecedented.

He was swiftly brought indoors and placed in a cozy kennel away from the cold.

His collar and leash hinted at an existing family. A scan for a microchip turned up empty, leaving no informational trail.

Without any means to contact someone, the dog was put up for adoption. Despite visitors’ efforts, he seemed disinterested in forming any bonds.

“He was very apprehensive and would let out low growls with unfamiliar faces,” NeNe Lewis of the Louisiana SPCA mentioned to The Dodo. “When offered snacks and spoken to with kindness, he relaxed. Given that he was discovered tied to our property, his behavior seemed understandable.”

The staff began seeing subtle signs of him attempting to bridge the trust gap, but something about his reactions seemed out of the ordinary compared to other pets looking for homes.

They kept on providing care, unaware that the key to his sorrow was about to be revealed.

The Day His Loved Ones Returned for Him

After a couple of months went by, the team came across an online plea from a family longing to find their missing pet, Cow. The resemblance between their dog and the canine in the profile photo was uncanny.

Upon reaching out, it was confirmed they were the same. Cow had been taken from his household. The individuals who took him eventually left him tied up at the shelter’s gates.

With the mystery solved, preparations for a heartwarming reunion were underway, aiming to mend the heartache of the lonely pet they had nurtured.

The moment Cow recognized his family near his cage, his reactions shifted instantly showing sheer joy. His tail wagged so vigorously it seemed almost invisible, and when his mom entered, he bounded right into her embrace. All his emotions poured out, brimming with joy.

To Cow, no new family could take the place of his real one. Being with them again was all he wished for.
