The Humane Society’s CEO, Sherry Silk, voiced her disbelief, “It’s horrifying. I don’t know why anyone would do that.”
Piecing the puzzle together, the officers realized the earlier rescued dog was the missing link – the mother searching for her lost babies.

Warmth, Love, and Recovery
Back at the shelter, the heartwarming reunion between the puppies and their mother, christened Dora, began. Their road to recovery was filled with care, cuddles, and play. The staff, smitten by their charm, named them: Della, Daisy, Diana, Dawson, David, Diego, and Dana.

New Beginnings and Forever Homes
Eight weeks of love and care later, the puppies were ready to embark on their next adventure – finding their forever homes. Della led the way, finding a loving family in Tampa, Florida.
One by one, each pup found their happy place. Their story stands as a testament to the dedication of the Tampa Police Department and the invaluable role of shelters. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, in 2022 alone, became a haven for 14,464 animals.
For those with room in their hearts and homes, countless furry friends await at local shelters, hoping for a chance at love.
